ONETSHIRT by Silvia Prada: GENERATION X

ONETSHIRT presents the new collection in collaboration with guest designer Silvia Prada, a portrayal of iconic Hollywood figures that have each shaped and marked GENERATION X in their defining years.

Prada’s fine-drawn portraits are either juxtaposed by onomatopoeia that provide sonic context; WOOOO!, SHOOP!, SLASH!, KRASH!, PLASH!, FSHOM, CLASP - Or  geometric compositions;  loony remixes of 20th-century art movements such as Bauhaus, De Stijl and Russian Constructivism, that each commands a manifesto.

The twelve featured works consist of artistic representations of subjects that include Drew Barrymore, Lisa Bonet, Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Corey Haim and Winona Ryder – All part of the 80’s and 90’s POP explosion that dominated the twenty-something culture and broadened their frame of reference to include pop-culture productions. This collection is a continuation of the artist’s fascination with the production of identity, human aesthetics and the ability to objectify all things POP.

ONETSHIRT, besides featuring the 12 portraits on white t-shirts, expands the collection by combining and playing with Prada’s various visual elements to create additional t-shirts, sweatshirts and bomber jackets.
